This is my introductory post to this forum. I participate on many forums related to my other interests and hobbies, i.e., model aviation, photography, motorcycling, bicycling, cooking, etc, but this forum is definitely one of the best. GMPT is an excellent forum; a gold mine of tech information, the inside scoop on GM performance, a little camaraderie, plus a few good laughs....you guys are a great group

My car is a 2010 Camaro, 2SS/RS, manual trans, Victory Red with painted silver/gray rally stripes. It was just delivered in the first week in Oct. It will be a limited use, low mileage car that will be stored in my heated garage during our Michigan winters.....er, that is, during customizing and engine modification season. I am still planning my performance options, but I will start with the usual cold air intake intake and headers and go from there. At minimum, I will need to run even with my brother's 500+ hp SVT Cobra Mustang

I have a lot of experience with GM performance cars. Back in “the day”, my everyday cars for going to work and driving my kids to school were what we now call classic muscle; I had a ’64 GTO, a ’66 GTO, a ‘68 Camaro, (one at a time, of course). Each a big motored 4 speed, and all of them bought new. Giving away my age now, the ’64 GTO was my first new car.

Growing up and out growing the street racing scene, I was soon up to my ears with serious drag racing at the local drag strips. I raced Chevys exclusively, both small block and rat motors. I built and raced a 302 ’57 Chevy that ran in the low 12s and a Hillborn injected 454 big block B/Altered that ran in the mid 10s on gas.

As time wore on, I eventually sold everything and gave it all up. I spent the next 25-30 years living quietly in the “burbs” of Metro-Detroit, driving in the slow lane in 3.0 L minivans, focusing on my career, raising my family and occupying myself with other interests and hobbies. Life was good.

One day this past spring a moment of reckoning and awakening came to me; I was driving in the vicinity of the GM Technical Center when the most drop-dead gorgeous car I have ever seen pulled up along side of me. It was a 2010 “Bumble Bee” SS Camaro, wearing the telltale manufacture’s plate that we often see around Metro-Detroit.

I totally freaked out and almost drove off the road. I had missed the Concept Camaro at the Detroit Auto Show, but there was no doubt what this thing was. “Oh, Ma Gawd”, I screamed to my wife, “Look at that thing…it must be the new Camaro”. "OMG...its beautiful!"

As the Camaro slowed down to turn into the Tech Center, I looked back at it thru my rear view mirror. One look into those beautiful haloed eyes…err…headlights, and I was toast. Right then and there, I knew that I had to have one.

"That’s my story and I’m stickin' to it"

I drive a '99 s10 zr2 that has had a few problems, but overall has been a great truck. It's suprised me a few times towing and 4 wheeling as far as what these little trucks can do.

Hi all, I got into car stuff as rookie 'mechanic' back in 1965. Yup the good old days of Super Cars. Worked at a Pontiac-Buick-GMC dealership in northern Wisconsin. Left that career many years ago and now do computer stuff but keep my hand exersized by working on my own and family vehicles. Purchased a Scanner a couple years ago and even with it's limited capability it helped. Lately though I have been running into a weird situation with my Red(this is important,LOL) 1999 GMC Sonoma ExtCab 4X4 auto w/4.3 in that while driving with steady to light throttle and with or without cruise, the engine RPM will jump up 100 to 250 RPM then drop back down. It does this even when not in full closed loop. It acts like the lockup torque converter is unlocking-locking-unlocking-locking, etc. My scanner doesn't show any codes but doesn't have the capability to do the trannie. One observation is that the percentage for the TPS, which normally displays 4-8% while driving, will jump up to as much as 20% at the same time as when the RPM jumps up. So I am planning on getting a Snap On MT2500 with the appropriate cartridges
so I can perform a major of the diagnostis including transmission.
Anyway, looking forward to reading the comments in this site.

Rick
