97 gtp laptop tune/log

I have seen a few products, namely 'powrtuner', (maybe)available for the 97 gtp.

I intend to do the 3.2 SC pulley, cold air intake, exhaust restriction delete, 180* thermostat, and possibly ram air down the road. The car never sees less than 93 octane, AKA $$$ I wish gas would go back down.

My question TO ANYONE WHO HAS DONE THAT is should I just get the first $100 PCM upgrade I run across, or do I need something to interface the laptop and fine tune/monitor/log?

Along with the obvious fuel delivery changes the PCM will need, I would also like traction control deleted, speed limiter removed, fans on above 180*, transmission shifts improved (higher line pressure and different shift points), and that damn lag at 40MPH removed. Most of the aftermarket PCM's offer this, but I don't see how they can send a generic reflash out to cover stock pulleys all the way down to 3.0.

Any advice is appreciated but not as much as word From Someone With Experience With The GTP!!!

Thanks y'all, and happy first post to me on this board! :)

BTW, do you have to do a CASE relearn with the new PCM? Do the remote door keys need reprogrammed? Thanks!

I am very involved in the GP community and the 3800 SC eng. Mine is a 98 Pace Car Replica 250/1500
The PCM from wbody store or ZZP or Intense will generally cover stock to 3.4 on a 97 for a 3.2 you need a turnner. HP turnners is a little more money but support is better and it covers more cars. The DHP turnner is a little better for a GTP but support is not as good and there are not updates available now. As for needing a Case learn GM says yes if you change the PCM you need a Case learn but most people have not done one because most dealers will do a complete relearn not just a Case learn so be care full who does it for you. The excepted idea is if it does not thro a code then the Case learn is not needed. Mine is a DHP V1.0 put in in 99 no case learn and 140,000 miles. ZZperformance.com or Intense-racing.com or ClubGP.com have a lot on information on what you need to run a smaller pulley. Good luck on making your 97 faster. By the way the new record for a 3800 FWD is 8.9 Sec in the 1/4 mile and it started life as a 97
