Achieva/Grand Am rear suspension difference? - GM Performance Tuning

Jimmy (Playastyle) posted a pic of the swaybar and rear suspension of his 92 GA in his "Parting out" thread. It seems to look different than my rear on my Achievas, (one 92 and one 94).
Both the Achieva rear ends look the same (sans the swaybar on my 94) I'm looking at the part that connects the axle to the brake drums (on Jimmy's car its red, but the color isn't what I'm talking about)

mine does

so does my 93 (except the shocks are in different spots on my two.

well, is that fron the front or the rear?

seems like its from the rear - I don't know....maybe my sway bar is just really rusted and matches everything else so well:p

here is 93 GT FE2 rear.....

i took one of the 96 but it didnt come out, too little light under the car.

Anyway, from what I see it looks like the rear is linked up different in GAs and Achievas, but what confused me is, that they should be the same, I mean its the same n-body platform.

And your 93 is FE2 and my 94 is FE2 so they should look the same (my 92 and 94 look the same so nothing changed on the Achieva version) Its just strange that they have a different rear setup :confused:

it should, It would'nt be cost effective for GM to make a different reareand for basically ther same car.

J, why's your '93 got the FE2 suspension? I though it had FE3?
Can SE's have the FE2 or FE3 as opposed to the standard FE1?

The thing that sucks on the PRE-95 GA's is how there are like 4 fucking coils on the rear springs....:eek: ! THAT'S IT! So when you drop em, (like Jimmy did), the end result is about 1 inch of travel and a TANK-like-ridin GA!

crazy....If you've ever noticed the 95-98's sit a lil higher in the rear......they have like 8 coils instead of 4 too. If I would've bagged a 92-94 GA...it would get MADDDD LIFT, when it was "UP"
and it would not have been as low without EVEN more mod. :rolleyes: I like the 92-94 suspension though.......just because you're not 4-wheelin as bad as ALL of the OTHER GA's....
