Can someone answer this question...
I was planning on getting air ride, but the only kit i could find was the KMW one. This kit was rather expensive and i thought it might be cheaper to put a kit together myself, by buying everything seperatly. I was wondering two things
- How does air ride go on? What do you all have to do?
- and I was wondering if someone could make a list of all the things i would have to buy to make the air ride kit
Thanks

youd have to get universal strutbags and stuff....it would be easier/cheaper to buy the kit made for the cars.....not to mention a custom fab will probly be very unreliable

um yeah, so hear me now and believe me later...the only way to go is cylinders... phatazzgrandam has had 3 bags pop...they rnt safe...and if one goes off when ure driving...hello side of the road = guard rail, ditch, misc other crap (although then u could get the aed front end.....hmmmm)
seriously though... find a shop around ure way that will install them...the guy who does alot of the GM cars (cavi's mostly, but a couple GA's) pretty much mix n matches pieces to fit...custom weld brackets, bla bla bla ...it wont be cheap either...ure lookin at at least 2500....
and another thing to consider... do u want co2 tanks or a bunch of batteries and a compressor fillin up ure trunk/ back seats

the thing with hydraulics, is that a specific kit isnt necessary...you get a universal kit...whether it consists of one pump, 2 pumps, 4 pumps...whatever...you have your cylinders of different lengths that insert through your springs...hydraulics are much harder on your car depending on the setup you get though...but, hydraulics in my opinion, are much cooler...I mean, yeah, you can dog leg with air bags, but you cant hit a three wheel bending a corner without juice...hydraulics are much faster, but also can be messy if a pump fails...there are pros and cons to each one...

so is putting the cylinders in the springs a hard thing to go? im confused as to what all has to go into this setup....someone with moderate suspension skills should be able to do it right? aside from all the routing of hoses and wires..

hydraulics arent difficult to install at all...the set up comes with all the cups and donuts to hold the cylinder in the spring, comes with the springs...all you specify usually is the spring rate, and they send you the correct springs...everything is included...wiring the switches is the hardest part...I have done one install on a 85 monte carlo that was so unbelievably simple, I thought I did it wrong...but, let me tell you...there is nothing more sexy, than laying frame...

lol...there are TONS of company's that sell this stuff...CCE, Pro Hopper...for some reason those are the only 2 that come to mind...pick up a low rider magazine, and you will see how many company's there are...also, you local shop should be able to order them for you...with front wheel drive though, you will want to use accumulators...it makes the ride very smooth, almost like stock, otherwise, you get some rice hop...
