exhaust burned up my rear bumper!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bad news..
well I noticed today that my back bumper was melted and burnt. I checked the muffler and the welds had broken and the tip was blowing right on the bumper, and now my bumper is slightly warped and the chrome is burnt.

Good news is... I removed the muffler and it sounds so good I don't know if I wanna put it back on !

Also, the throttle response is greatly improved. Im thinking about gutting out the baffles and welding it back on like that, since the baffles are falling apart anyways. Might think about doing the cat too

Sorry to hear about that man ... does your state let you keep the muffler off?

no, that sucks too. Im going back to college soon and I won't be able to afford a new muffler. I once knew a guy that made his own mufflers. My old muffler's interior was just a curved metal tube with all kinds of tiny holes in it.

You can pick a muffler up at the junkyard for a good price ..

thats true. or maybe i can weld just a pipe on there to make it look like theres a muffler. they dont do emissions tests here and never look underneath the vehicle. and to tell you the truth its not really that loud with the rest of the exhaust system still there. a harley with pips is waaay louder and I see them driving around all the time here. that and the trucks with glasspacks. this is redneck country! lol the muffler delete sounds way better than a fart can imo.
