Lowering Spring Problem...

So we installed Eibach lowering springs in my fiances' 99 Grand Am. We put them in and got it re aligned. My fiance noticed it was pulling so I drove it and it was...so we took it to get realigned because it was under warranty. They said that everything was good, and that maybe it was the tires. Well the tires were brand new and so I drove it again. I know what is happening but dont know why. When you turn it, lets say to the right, it will pop and then it will pull that way, as if it was stuck. If you go and turn it the other way it will pop again and go back to normal. But then if you turn it left again it will pop and then be stuck towards the left. Anyone have any ideas why it would be doing this? Thanks for the help!

Brandon

Re: Lowering Spring Problem...

Did you make sure you seated the springs in the isolators correctly? If they are offset they will make popping noises (never heard of them steering the car, though)

Also check the control arm bushings and the CV axles.....perhaps if something was worn on the car, the extra stress of the drop made it give up the ghost.

Just some thoughts.

Re: Lowering Spring Problem...

thanks for the help, we did check it after we first started and it seemed they were in the isolaters right, could it be that they dont fit in it correctly and it keeps popping out? We will have to check all of that other stuff! Thanks again

Re: Lowering Spring Problem...

did you replace struts at the same time? how about the strut bearingplate.....i took out my springs and went back to stock..i immediatlynoticed that the car was easier to steer...reason?...strut bearing plate...the problem was magnified due to the stronger (lowering) spring
