Day of my truck problems

First warning light is to service the brake booster.

Second, the battery isn't charging ..

Turns out at 160,000 miles the alternator went .. getting it replaced and they are looking into the brake booster warning ..

Driving a Ford Explorer now ..

Got the alternator fixed and some other normal things (About $120 worth) for $485 .. didn't think it was to bad.

I'll pick it up today and get out of this Ford Explorer demo they gave me :)

So it was $365 to replace the alt? Where did you get the work done? That sounds like it's on the expensive side.

Glad you're getting your truck back though.

Now my Trans died :( $1,600 for a new one from GM with a 100,000 mile warranty. What does everyone think?

At 160,000 miles if I do the trans I'll have a new trans, alternator, and all the perfect routine maientenance.

I need 250,000 out of this truck.

Trans Died! I'm sorry to hear that.
$1600 for a Transmission isn't bad. Does that come with installation? If you need the truck to go 250,000 miles than you won't need to worry about the transmission during that time.

I spent about $2000 to have my Grand Am's Transmission rebuilt and have a trans cooler installed. Aamco wanted about $3000.

$1600 installed .. maybe $1,683 or so ..

They are giving me a good price (I have worked with them on projects for about 5 years so they help me out when I need it).

Now that I have the alternator replaced and the trans what other major items could possibly go bad next?

Like I said, the goal is 250000 miles ... and I planned on the alt and trans around 180,000 or so ..

Yea, they should have the part in tomorrow and have it done by Friday at the latest (due to Thanksgiving). I just hope the truck doesn't start to turn into a money pit .. however, I think I've replaced the big ticket items now ..

I'm picking it up Monday .. kind of happy to get out of the Ford Fusion I've been driving the past week .. however, the fusion gets pretty good gas mileage.

That sounds like a good deal and warranty on the transmission.

I'd do it.

You should be able to get the miles out of it that you need to.
