Do you have any intake or exhuast leak, or you could be loosing compression in a cylinder, i have noticed this same problem in older gm motors. its usualy an IAC or a PCV valve. the egr just goes bad, those two can get sticky and not throw codes, and they have no sensors, they only control air and idle. to me, with only what you told me sounds like an idle air controler
