Performance Tuning

Hey guys, i'm new to the forum. I talked to JAMZ and i'm looking into becoming a sponsor on this site. I do Performance Tuning for the GEN III and GEN IV Trucks and Suv's. I have been tuning these trucks for 4 years now locally in San Diego, and i'm expanding my business to mail order tuning as well. My goal is to keep the tunes cheap to my customers and to get the tune right the first time. Since i'm just starting the mail order tuning, i will not be able to carry PCM cores in stock at this time, but there are many positives to this, let me explain. If you request a Tuned PCM/ECM sent to you, the vin is going to have to be changed to your truck, there is a possibility that the pcm sent to you is no good, and when the vin is changed, when you receive it and install it into your truck, you are going to have to go to a dealership and pay 1 hour minimum to do a "crank relearn". The way i want to run this is for the customer to send me their PCM/ECM/TCM, if that applies, and i'll tune it and send it right back. There will be no misfire issues, no "no start" conditions, and no expensive crank relearn. This is gonna keep costs down to you guys ultimately, and a quicker response by myself. Thank you, i hope i can be some help for guys on this forum. I really want to keep the price as low as possible, i hate how much the big boys charge for stuff.

Welcome to the site. Looks like a very good service you have to offer there. I hope you can make the mail order part of your service successful, but its going to be tough to convince many folks to send in their existing PCMs to be reprogged by 'some guy on the net that says he runs a business.' You should think about getting some sort of feedback rating or customer review system set up to represent yourself in a good light. Anyhow, best of luck to ya.

Thank you for your opinion, i appreciate it. I am gonna try to see if i can get good deals on PCM cores, I would rather tune the existing pcm's, but like you said, it might be a PITA for people to do that. I'm just gonna answer questions, and give good feedback on people's posts and we'll go from there.

Oh yah BTW, if you check out my site and look into the customers section, i do have feedback on a few of the trucks, others just never wrote me anything to post up. Read some of the quotes with some of the trucks and you'll see what REAL people think.

Are you able to do GM 4 and 6 Cylinder cars as well? I see they aren't listed anywhere on your site, but there is a market for these applications (albeit small).

I have the capabilities to tune the cars, but i've invested my money and time learing to tune GM V8 Truck Applications, and yes their is a market for them but like you said it is small. Also, as far as my mail order tuning, I only have a harness for the GM Trucks.

All of those forums have their BIG TUNERS on their. I've been on all of those forums for years now and there would be no room for a NEW TUNER. This is a side business for me, i'm a commercial electrician and do my tuning on the side. I've always wanted to be a LOCAL STREET TUNER, but have wanted to expand into mail order tuning, so i am trying to start in forums that have not had the BIG Tuners and wanted to fit in somewhere.

Sucks that you're in California. I'm wanting a tune on my new truck pretty bad and I can't get ahold of the guy that is local around here, and the only other person I know that can do it is 4 hours away.
