oh, also, i have a 90 chevy astro at my disposal, also with a 4.3l auto 2wd (the truck's 2wd also). it's kinda hard to find info on this vehicle in particular, for whatever reason, but it said a 92 had a capacity of 5700 pounds. i think that's probably where my best option will be at...
places like uhaul only rent pickup trucks for in town towing (and i'll be damned if i'm gonig to get a moving van), and i figure if that's going to happen, i'll just have the other party rent it on the other end, and transfer in the middle... if you have any ideas, lemme know! and no, i don't have a "real" truck at my disposal, only a van and a (pair of) weenie truck(s).

sounds like the towing would be fine, i would only be concerned with how it "felt" behind the truck while towing it...i kinda get uneasy if the load behind feels really loose. At work, I tow a 12k lb. excavator and 3k lb + furnaces and you can tell when the truck feels like it isnt heavy enough for what it is towing (we use at least 3/4 ton trucks) but you shouldnt have to worry if you can handle the load and if the hitch is strong enough (good equipment is the reassurance)
