Re: Trailblazer SS -- What do you think ?

you sure you aren't talking about a charger or a 300 hemi srt8? those run low 13's... the jeep cherokee srt8 is a much heavier vehicle with the same engine... its not gonna run as fast as a charger or a 300c. the cherokee srt8 weighs 4800 lbs!

The Jeep is AWD so it gets a lot better launch. Trust me I know what I am talking about. I own a Jeep forum.

you've got a couple great looking ones yourself. i've been trying to get a couple local SRT10s to play, but they never will. one is an older guy and the other is a Dr.'s wife. those are the 2 i see all the time. there's quite a few others, but you never see those out.

2002GT is right, stock for stock the Jeep SRT8 is quicker. 5 speed auto, low gearing and AWD make for a lethal combo, especially on the street. but you're kind of off on your numbers for the TBSS. they run anywhere from mid 13s to low 14s stock. they really aren't consistant across the board like the Jeeps are, they're all pretty much low 13s.

the jeep is a really nice truck. i had my heart set on either the Jeep or the Trailblazer. i came across the Trailblazer first. i've only seen 1 of the SRT jeeps in person, and still haven't found one sitting on a dealers lot yet. but when i do find one sitting i'd love to take it for a quick spin to see what it's like

both are nice trucks in their own respect. the Jeep is geared a little more to the performance side from the factory (loose convertor, tighter suspension). and the Trailblazer is geared a little more toward utility (more towing capacity and easier to live with everyday as far as ride quality goes)

that's starting to make sense. AWD makes a ton of difference in a vehicle's launch.

yes it does. i love having AWD in the SS. i can lay a beating on most cars from a stoplight. and yes, the higher powered ones run me down if we stay in it long enough. but the look on their faces is priceless when a big ol' SUV just squats and launches and leaves their sports car spinning tires lol.

had a guy in a modded GTO trying to mess with me the other night. i laughed and said the only way i'd race him was through the intersection. he kinda chuckled and asked why just through the intersection, then i told him i was AWD. he just said "oh". lol

hee. i would have probably done the same thing, heh. GTO is hard to launch with authority... even if you have very sticky tires.

Re: Trailblazer SS -- What do you think ?

Just passing thru and saw this thread, bought my wife an 07 TBSS.
I love it, quick enough to run side by side with a late model Mustang GT.
And it goes good with my vette.
