I've seen the SRT-8 Jeep on a road course, very impressive. I would really like to see the two of these go heads up on a road course. Straight-line is good, but lets put some left and right in the equation and see what happens.

Re: Trailblazer SS -- What do you think ?

Alot of the guys over on trailblazerss.com are running 13's
and a few are pushing the 11's. The LS2 has alot of products
out to make it really fast. And pretty easy to work on.
I have plan's for headers cam and S/C for it. just have do the work
while she's a sleep. If i can get 532 rwhp out of my vette all by my self i should be able to get hers in the 450rhp range.
I'm just a die hard chevy fan.

Re: Trailblazer SS -- What do you think ?

this seems to me much like the now old stock s197 mustang gt vs ls2 gto argument.

guys on mustang boards say stock gto's can never run anything less than a 13.9, talk endlessly about what they have "seen" at dragstrips... and say how they will destroy any GTO.

GTO guys say that stock 6.0's have run high 12's stock and they will destroy a stock mustang GT.(which i believe entirely considering my car has nothing more than a K&N intake and a different pair of mufflers, along with some stock-sized nitto 555r's, and i ran a 13.2 in 80 degree weather, with a 2.0 60'... if i could muster a 1.8 60' on that same run i'm sure i would have been scraping by with a 13.0x or a 12.9X time)

the fact is stock for stock that the GTO is the faster car (if only by a few tenths), just much harder to drive than the mustang!

i think its similar with the srt-8 vs trailblazer... its all about driver skill and how quick you can get out of the hole. i got spanked by a slower car at the track in my GTO because my launch totally sucked, coupled with a lame reaction time. he ran a 13.8... i ran a 13.7 that run. he still won. doesn't mean his car was faster than mine, just a better driver.

i totally believe a stock LS2 powered trailblazer is capable of good mid 13-second quarter mile times with a capable driver, good track conditions and some sticky rubber. that's a lot closer to the srt-8 than a whole second.

friggin magazine testers can't drive for crap anyway.

yeah, 2wd are around mid 13s stock and AWD are 14 flat. a tune, on average, takes about .5 second on the 1/4.

there are tons of people in the low low 13s and high 12s with minimal mods.

the most common mods are tune, cai, torque converter, underdrive pullies, and e-fans. on a 2wd you're almost guranteed mid 12s and with AWD you're almost guranteed low 13s/high 12s

Re: Trailblazer SS -- What do you think ?

The secret to making the TBSS handle like it should have from the factory is:
Addco 1.25 solid front sway bar
Addco 1.125 solid rear sway bar
Kbee Japanese coilovers in the front, rebound set on full stiff.
I can drift and throttle steer my 06 AWD all over the windy mountain roads we live on and scare the daylights out of all the "sporty car" yuppies. Course we tend to get crossed up in a stock 'burb on those roads too but it's all good practice.

Re: Trailblazer SS -- What do you think ?

depending on your elevation and DA it probably wasn't a whole lot. there are people in the 12s with tune, cai, efan, and pullies. some are getting deeper in 12s with a converter. 12s is about the limit with simple bolt-ons like that. there's even people with blowers that are in the 12s, but they're more consistant with their 12s...they don't need paranormal DA's and mid 50s lol

I have been kinda looking at getting a Silverado SS myself to go with my wifes TBSS. Just put Kooks longtubes, cold air intake with a IAT relocation harness on her TBSS. Had it tuned last weekend. numbers started out at 333 rwhp after the tune it was 350 rwhp with 364 tq. The tune made a world of difference on the shifting, its just a hair from braking the tires loose from the 1st to 2nd shift with traction control on.
