Try a Performance Chip. If you have the CPI 4.3, it not much more you can do. If you have the TBI, you can add a Supercharger.
Also, GM Performance sells aluminum heads for the 4.3 V-6 that will help your engine breath better with modifications to you induction (K&N filter) and exhaust (headers, performance muffler).
I would not advise a low-tempature thermostat any lower than 180 degrees and stay away from high octane gas. The CPI engines injectors will clog with carbon when you incorporate a low temp thermo with high octane gas!
High octane (93) gas actually burns slower than low-octane (87) gas.
You could also do a custom job on the pleneum that could increase the flow of air with the mods mentioned.
