Who is your daddy and what does he do?
The pressure plate is part of the clutch system on manual transmission cars (a 5 speed in this case).
When the clutch pedal is released, the springs in the pressure plate engage the clutch. Basically, it's a clamp. It keeps the clutch from slipping. The Centerforce pressure plate is equipped with stronger springs to better handle more HP. Retail price on the thing is about $240. or so. The Throw Out Bearing (TOB) is a hydraulic actuator that disengages the clutch by pressing on the pressure plate. In this case, the TOB replaces a clutch slave cylinder, clutch fork (lever) and standard TOB. (Less moving parts and simpler design.) Retail on this part is about $110. or so. Thanks |
