7998 is what im putting in emily's car as soon as i sell her current headunit/ cd changer. would like to put alpine in my truck, but i've got a kenwood keg w/ a 40 gig cartridge i paid $700 for......not gonna give that up :p


but the 9831 isn't a bad choice. actually looks like a good HU, but you can get alpine's cheapest model and still have better sound quality than some of the competions higher end models.

why not go for broke and get a CDA 7990 or a IVA D900?

The cda9831 unit you speak of is pretty good. My dad has that in his Acura Legend w/ a sub and it sounds really really nice.

I have the Alpine 7894 Unit in my car and I love it. I works really well with my sub and comparing it to the previous headunits I've had (Kenwood and Clarion), it blows them out of the water. Nothing less than Alpine for audio for me.

Here's a pic of mine. I have the buttons set to red, but they look white in this picture due to the flash, hehe.

And those scratches on the dash were when the theifs stole my Kenwood unit.
