I fabricated a sealed enclosure to fit in the center of my trunk, shooting into the passthrough. Sounds great with the armrest down. I dimensioned the box such that it matches up with the angle of the rear seat and rear deck, and made it much more wide than deep, so that I could retain use of the spare tire without having to mess with the box.
Now I want to hide everything, so that when you pop my trunk, it looks completely stock. I'm all ready to put a big wood panel across the area, basically so that nobody can see what's under the rear deck when the trunk is open. What I'm wondering, is should I use a sheet of 1/2" MDF to panel this off, or should I use some thin hardboard? Whatever I use, I'm going to have to carpet over it.
Obviously, not all of the power from the single driver is going through the passthrough. Some waves are getting canceled and sent back into the trunk. I'm just wondering how further insulating the area would affect the situation. I'd assume it wouldn't affect it much, since I'm not making the panel airtight., and air is still free to roam over the strut towers.
Also, is there a way to prevent the passthrough lid from violently vibrating when it's closed?
