Buddies Install....
Well, I got a buddy of mine hooked on cars, and systems. I convinced him to get something small to start with, and ended up selling him on a pair of MTX Audio Thunder 4500 10"s and an MTX Thunder 6304 Amp. I ended up getting him a dual slot port box for free. With a new deck and everything, the guy only dropped 600 on all of it. I've got a few pics of the install. Keep in mind, it was getting late, and we were both tired, so I just threw the stuff in, and plan on cleaning up the wires in a few days. Let me know what y'all think.

last one. I was really pissed, he had a ton of shit in his car, and it was a really big pain in the ass to try and work around it. But like I said, I got it done, and it's installed and working. These little subs really hit!

Is it better to face the subs towards the seat like that?

normally no, but since the port is on the front of the box when (if) he takes it to comp he might get a little bit of an edge with the port facing the mic

And I did it that way, cuz he doesn't have anyone ever in the back seat, so as long as he keeps it clean, he can drop the back seat and then it'll really let it run throuhg. I am really happy with how it turned out, and for the price, he couldn't go wrong.

I've had MTX for everything I've had, and I've been really happy with them. They hit HARD, and they aren't too ungodly expensive. Im running a Thunder 8000 right now, and it surprises a lot of people, since I am powering at like 1/4 of what it should be at....speaking of that, anyone got a decent 800-1200 watt amp they want to give me?

I got the subs, box, and amp for less than the amp retails for alone. He paid for the regular price of the amp and the deck, everything else was essentially free!

the port direction is debatable....i used to have 2 rockford he's in a slot port which was facing toward the front of the car, and it was louder than when I had it reversed...although, I did have the subs reverse mounted....it was a tits little setup....but personally, i like the port toward the front......when you can feel the air that your shit is moving, it gives you a sense of satisfaction

the port on emily's box is facing the side of the car. it's worked pretty well so far. but i couldn't face her's toward the front of the car anyway.......that's where her amp rack is

Best results are with the subs and port facing the same direction. If you COMPLETELY and correctly seal the area around the box to prevent air from slipping back, forward is best. Otherwise, firing them rearwards reduces cancellation substantially and offers the best results.
