Speaker question..please respond asap

okay..well i b ought new 6x9's to replace the rear speakers in my car..and i am doing something special with them..and i had a question..i want to put them in sort of a box with the magnets each pointing in at eachother..like one on each side of the box..and there would only be about 1 inch of space between both magnets and i was wondering if this is safe or not?

The magnets would repel each other being that close. I don't know if any damage would happen to the speakers over time, but I wouldn't risk it.

They will be fine... the magnets are thick enough so that they won't interfere with the voicecoil movements... go for it... weve had tight setups in cars before (subs and otherwise) where magnets were near touching... no problems. Hey make sure you take pics ;)

ever heard of phaze cancellation? you need to set up the speakers so that there is some kind of angle. if you don't you will still get good midrange and highs but your bass response will suffer. if you are running a sub this won't matter much to you. but trial and error is a good way to go there shouldn't be any risk of damage to the speakers no matter how close you get them.

phase cancellation will only occur if you use 2 different size speakers, normally on the low frequency's. He will be fine doing it the way he is talking about.
