different engine, the 2.2 in the 97 s10 is the non-vortec 2.2 derived from the 2.0 in the old J-bodies.

I think the J-body's and the S-10's also had a different cam.
The Intake (as mentioned) and Exhaust are piped differently. The location of the starter is also likely on opposite sides. But yea, the internals are the same. Mantapart has internals for the 2.2L OHV |

According to GM Parts Direct, both the S-10s and the J-Bodies camshaft have the same part number. S-10s use a differnt exhaust manifold. The blocks are the same, so the starter is in the same location and have the same part number.
Mantapart is over priced and they take a long time to deliver, there are many other companies that have just as good or better parts for less. I haven't dwelt a whole lot in to the S-10's 2.2L performance parts, but the internals are the same so any of the J-Body internal performance parts will work also, I'm just not sure about the bolt-ons. There is alot of information on the 2.2L at http://www.j-body.org/, just do some research. You'll see me posting in many of the threads about the 2.2Ls and 2200s. |
