3800 swap
Hello everyone does anybody know of someone who has swapped in a 3800 supercharged engine into a 92-95 GA? If so is this a swap that can be done without too much difficulty?
Thank you for your time, Corey:)

It's been done on a 92 or a 93. It's easier for them because they had the 3300 which was the little brother of the 3800. They had a different tranny from the 94-95 years so swapping the tranny might be necessary as well. That's the easy part. The hard part is wiring everything up and getting the engine running. The 95 was the last year for OBDI which isn't tuneable. And there's no telling how well a 90 degree v6 will run on an ECU meant for a 60 degree one. You might have to either do an OBDII swap from the donor car (and hope it works in yours) or get a boost controller or some other engine management system.

[Caps Lock] is your friend. so is the english language. why do you feel the need to neglect both?
secondly, it CAN be done and HAS been done. hell, i've heard of a 3800sc swapped into a Gen 3 cavy, and that engine bay's smaller than a grand am's.

The engine swap is seriouse. I'm rebuilding a 3800 series II Supercharged to put in my 96 Grand Am SE. Yes it does look like a lot of work. But wouldn' t it be worth it to watch a ricers jaw drop to see that you are the greatest? My 3100 does me proud but it now seems like its not enough. The Grand Ams engine bay is big enough, and a sports trannny for the engine will bolt in, (just a little customizing), My only concern so far is the lower motor mounts. When I pull out my 3100, I am going to use a dummy engine to protype everything. If somebody can get me these motor mounts I would greatly appreciate it, if not then the welder comes outta the closet. Custom welding the mounting bars should work. Hopefuly. Nothing is ever definate. But wether you doubters want to believe or accept it is fine with me. I will put this engine in. Adn as for ECU's. yeah you need a new one (obviously) But with remouned custom gauges and 3800 parts replacing you stocks it'll be fine. Honestly for those who want this swap, everything that has to do with the 3100 has to come out. The 3800 has way to much power for those. I'm talking new ignition, gas lines, fuel injectors EVERYTHING. It all has to change. If you guys want to get together somehow to discuss this then we can. My phone number is 440-319-0411. If you Help me I'll help you. For one geniouse to do this job is a world of pressure, but put 5 or more up to this, we can rule these streets. I don't know about you but I'm tired of seeing Honda CIVICS rated #1. My car will take at least one magazine before she is obsolete. Her day ill come. Lets get this shiznic started.

I need to nit pick at this whole thread, but I will quote yours....
"Honestly for those who want this swap, everything that has to do with the 3100 has to come out. The 3800 has way to much power for those. I'm talking new ignition, gas lines, fuel injectors EVERYTHING. It all has to change. "
You can use the stock gas lines, you WILL need to change the pump tho. When you swap a 3800 in, you will be using those injectors with the motor, and also the ECU which is mated for those injectors. And where are Civics rated #1 for performance?
I have heard many times, people saying this will do this, and only 2 people have done it. One in a 93, and another in a 99+. You will need to use the 4T60E transmission, or the 4T65-HD. I suggest going with the 65-HD, due to the fact that the PCM is ready to go for that transmission. Since the Grand Am is a much ligher car then a GP, it is almost REQUIRED to throw a LSD into the differential, otherwise have fun rebuilding the transmission in the future. To do this swap, you will need a basic knowledhe of car customization, the motor, transmission, wiring, sensors, accessories or make custom brackets, mounts, fuel pump (I suggest a Gen 2 or 3 factory 3800SC pump. Get the harness with it, cut your stock harness and make it work) and a welder. I am tired, so thats all I can think of right now. Plus I am tired of typing.

Go with the HD tranny especially if your thinking about modding it in the future. The M90 is a torque monster. I belive it already comes with an LSD.

The 4T65HD doesnt come with a LSD stock, its a open diff. Its just about identical to the 4T60E.
