Help! Throttle Position Sensor?

I have a 1994 grand prix 3.1L and about once a month ill be driving and the engine will be unresponsive to the amount of throttle i give it, unless i pound the pedal. It will do this for about 30 seconds and it will go away for about a month. If this is happening and i slow down to a stop the engine will die unless i throw it in neutral and rev it. While this is happening the Check Engine Light doesn't even come on, so the computer isnt recognizing a problem. i thought it was my fuel filter so i changed it and that wasent the problem. I'm thinking its the tps but I'm not sure. Would the tps cause this? And if so, if i take the old one out and put in a new one will it have to be calibrated or tuned? Any help would be appreciated!!

Holy shit man, did u just take the old one off and put a new one on, without setting it? I heard on some cars and/or automakers have tps that have to be tuned or set to the car. What was your reason for changing it? Was it sending codes, or was your idle rough? n/e way now im starting to think its my feul pump starting to go or getting weak. Does that seem right? Intermittent power loss? Although fuel filter, plugs, wires, air filter n transmission fluid and filter have been done recently. Anybody else have any ideas?

i changed it because i was gettin codes an the car would die when i press the gas pedal. i had good feul press. i changed spark plugs an wires did a ohm test on the coils an the was fine an i have 2 cylinders thats not fireing at all now that i have done all that its still spuddering loss of mad power not that i did all that the only thing left is to take the intake off an check out the injectors because cylinders 1 & 2 are wet

that does sound like the TPS. you don't have to "adjust" or "set" anything... resetting the ECM is always a good idea when doing a sensor replacement. it could also be a failing MAP sensor.

al prix - it sounds like cylinders 1 and 2 are just not getting spark. recheck your plug wires since you said you replaced them. i've seen plug wires that look and test ok but are still bad. also make sure they are seated correctly on the coil pack terminals.
