LS1 springs on a 3400

Whats up everyone, Im bringing my care into the shop next week for some head work, and while theyre at it i wanted to throw a set of aftermarket springs in there, and everyone says to go for the ls1 springs. i found a good set for a reasonable price but they are single springs. and the ones that are in my grand am have both an inner spring and an outer spring, and all the sets that im looking at only seem to have an outer spring. is that just how they are on the ls1? also could i use the inner spring from my stock ones if need be? thanks for some quick knowledgeable replys.

The LS1 springs are a single spring. The second spring in your car is probally just a damper spring. The Ls1 spring will work fine all by it's self. Those springs are made for a higher lift.

much appreciation for the help. now the set im looking for is listed as springs and retainers, but correct me if im wrong arent the retainers the 2 small semi-circle pieces that hold the top of the valve stem? in this picture on top of the springs is that the valve seat itself or if not would the dealership have the seat and valve seal, and are they gonna cost me an arm and a leg.

if you're looking for high rev's and nulling out the valve float, the set I'm using is from Manley which is actually higher rate than LS1, LS2/LS6. You'll have to do some adjusting though, the return rate on mine is so high I am having to adjust out the sensitivity for the KR cuz it's set off by the valve slap on return. Same reason you can't use gear drive timing sets, but I'm trying to find a work-around for that too.
