more power and a egr
Welcome me to the forums I have a pair of 95 pontiac 3100. I have the miss fortune of haveing the egrs fail on both of them but as one (grand am) is a daily driver I needs a egr for it, besides new aftermarket ($200+) anyone have one for sale. also while I am under the hood I would like to do a few bolt on's like chip, pulleys, exhaust for starters. I haven't had any luck with my search but an help, information, parts would be appreciated.

EGR is easy, you can get them at local wrecking yards for around $20-40.
Two bolts and one quick connect wire. Some engines get better performance or gas milage by using an "EGR Delete". There is no gain to be had by not having the EGR on the 3100 engine.
Pullies are the best bang for the buck under $110.

Most people on this board made there own intakes from Civic or Prelude intakes. Do a search you should be able to find all the info needed.
For the 3100 a 2.25 or 2.5" Exhaust is just about right.
There are no Chips for 95 GM Cars.

I had a reprogrammed ecu from superchips in my '95 Grand Am. The previous owner of the ecu had it sent out special. btw, if you go on ebay, don't bother with the "chips" they sell on there.
The exhaust has to be custom made. There are no catback systems available for either of your cars.
Egr is a common problem for the 3100. They're like $300 brand new at the dealer.

I have one laying around, somewhere if you wanna buy it. But IMO, its not worth having it. For performance...
swap to a 3.4L
heads
intakes
exhaust
custom headers
pullies
turbo
supercharger

thanks for the help...
If there is no chip for the ecu are there companies that do reprograming on them, I also read something about using the exhaust manifold from a different car/engine(maybe 3.4?) that would provide more power. I realize swapping to the 3.4(thats a over head cam motor, right?) is the popular swap but at this time it is not one I am going to make. I am looking to get a little more pep out of the 60 deg. I got. Thanks for the site to the pulleys I think a set are on the way.

there might be chips available, but i have not seen them for the 3100s (also have not looked much).
The 3.4 we are talking about is the 3400 from the 99+ Grand Am's. I remeber reading some where the 3400 manifolds where bigger on the 3400 SUV's (Aztec and other), but I don't remeber if they fit in the engine bay.

Superchips is the only one I know of. I think Kalvin had his done by Dhp. Don't expect it to drive like a vette, the reprogrammed ecu just wakes up the motor a little. The more you have done to your car, the more it will benefit from the ecu so it's something worth putting off for a bit (after you do intake, exhaust & pulley).
You can use parts off the 3400 found in the '99-04 Grand Am/Alero, Aztek, Rendezvous and Montana/Sillouette/Venture. The minivans and suvs have larger exhaust manifolds than the cars. 95-GT got his 3400 out of a van, but I don't remember if he had to modify the exhaust manifolds. The 3.4Dohc/Sohc found in the older W-bodys, minivans and v6 F-bodys is a totally different motor.

Well... I have
2000 3100 lower, upper intake manifold swap
56mm throttle body
FFP underdrive pulley
RKSport upper mount insert
RKSport lower dogbone engine mount
2.5" manifold back exhaust with high flow cat and flowmaster 80
Cold air intake
Honestly its probably a second faster than stock... idk though need to run it. But its a bit faster than a stock 3100. The mounts were for a 2.4 and the pulley I got from FFP.
