Oil Pressuew sender info needed.

Hi, I am doing a 1990 Quad 4 engine swap into my 1986 Fiero. I started it up for the first time the other day, and my oil pressure guage was pegged past the numbers. I am using a guage cluster from a 1986 Sunbird GT hatchback, it has the full cluster with oil pressure, fuel, volts, temp, tach, and spedometer. What I need to know is what the resistance of the Quad 4 sender is at max pressure, and what the sunbird was at max pressure.

According to my Fiero Factory service manual, the stock 2.5L pressure sender has a resistance of 90 Ohms at max pressure, so I would guess that since the sunbird is the same year, it would be the same, and since the guage pegs when the Quad 4 is running, it's resistance is much higher.

Thanks,

Ben.

Oh, here is a shot of my guage cluster:
When running the oil pressure needle is pointing straight up.

There are two different oil pressure sending units made. One for the light (standard cluster) and one for the ones with the full gauge package. Sounds to me like your car has the oil pressure sending unit that was ment for the light.

Both cars had the guages. On sunday, when I had the engine running last, the oil pressure guage read 550KPA (max pressure on guage, about 45º angle from pointing sideways) and when it was reved up, it pointed straight up. Luckly, the oil pressure guage is right on the top of the engie, oh, and it has 3 wires going into it.
