3800 thermostat?

haha its been a while since i been on here, anyhoo im trying to see if a 3800 thermostat will fit into a 3100, both thermostats are 44mm wide but the 3800 is shorter, my reasoning behind this is the stant P/N is 13899 for the 3100 which is a 195 degree now the 3800 thermostat P/N is 13849 which is also a 195 the 180 degree equivalent to that is P/N 13848, now see the last digit is an 8 for 180 degree. Stant does not make a P/N 13898 180 degree equivalent for the 3100. but i work for advance atuo parts and have access to these parts and can see the difference and it looks like it will fit, also i noticed www.pfyc.com has a 180 degree for the 3400 with is the same as the 3100, but what got me thinking is that the one PFYC shows is for a 3800, so Im thinking i can interchange them. sorry this was kind of long winded but if anyone has any info it would be great, if not ill just buy it cuz its only 6 bucks and try it out
