I Need Help Engine Is Complete But Doesn't Start
Hello Again My Lumina Is Finally Asembled. The Engine Is Complete...But Now The Car Doesn't Start...He Cranks Fine But Doesn't Start...If I Push The Pedal To The Metal He Does Like Starting Then Dies...I Have Checked Compresion, Spark, Fuel, Timming, Fuses.....Right Now I'm Trapped!!! Since He Got Water Through The Throttle Body And Upper Intake And Lower Intake Manifold...I Believe Maybe He Has A Bad Sensor...And Believe It's The TPS.
Here's A Picture Of The Engine...

Any Help Would Greatly Be Appreciated

Re: I Need Help Engine Is Complete But Doesn't Start
Your first problem is that you call it a HE...cars respond much better to SHE...lol.
The MAF sensor and IAT will wreak havoc on your PCM if they are not clean. I'd check those first, and clean them up if you have not already. Use only a cleaner that leaves no residue. Water in the intake should not have any affect on your TPS, cause it is on the outside.
Another factor to consider is the CKP...crank case position sensor. If this is out or faulty, the car will be very reluctant to fire on the proper cylinders when being turned over.
I assume you must have driven in a bit of water to have the intake filled up. If so, the CKP could have been submerged. I am only assuming here...lol.

Re: I Need Help Engine Is Complete But Doesn't Start
Hahaha Good One!!!
Well He Got Water Through The Intake Duct & Throttle To The Inside Of The Engine, As Soon As The Water Entered The Engine The Engine Died...and Has Never Been Running Since Then...The MAF Sensor Of My Car Is Long Gone, I Was Using It Without The The Plug & Wires...And The IAT Was New. I'll Replace That.
Remember "SHE" Got Water In The Engine THROUGH The Throttle. I Believe The TPS Is A Potenciemeter Or Something So If It Gets Wet It'll Kill It I Believe, There Is The Probability That The IAC Sensor Is Gone Too So I Don't Know...
About The CKP It Could Happen But Right Now I'm Trying To Get A Hold On A Scanner But It's Hard...I Will See What I Can Do...
These Are The Sensors That May Have Died (Told By Mechanic)
*Idle Air Control
*Crankshaft Position Sensor
*Camshaft Position Sensor
*Oxygen Sensor
*MAP Sensor
*MAF Sensor (He Was Running Without It)
*EGR (I Doubt This Since Mine's Was Unplugged)
*TPS
Keep Posting I Really Need Help With This

Re: I Need Help Engine Is Complete But Doesn't Start
Hydro locking an engine is a very bad scenario...you say the engine is all done...did you have it out and stripped down after the water went in? A hydro locked engine will usually not start because there will be water in the combustion chambers preventing proper ignition of the fuel.
If you have not already done it, take out all the plugs, replace them, and let the engine sit for a couple days drying like that. Also drain the oil out, remove the old filter and leave it dry for the same period...You may also see benefit in manually turning the crank through a couple cycles to help move any trapped water in the chambers before you drain the oil.
There is no middle ground with hydrolocked engines. They usually either dry out and work, or they are toast. Damages from this problem usually show forth in bent rods, because water will not compress like air, and thus creates a steam/pressure putting huge strain on your engine. If your IAC and IAT sensors are dirty, as I mentioned they will skew the PCM badly with fuelling and ignition timing.

Re: I Need Help Engine Is Complete But Doesn't Start
Yeah We Stripped The Engine...Complete From The Heads Up...
We Did That And The Engine Tried To Start But Nothing. So We Took The Engine Apart...We Crank The Engine And He Cranks Good It Doesn't Have More Water In The Engine...
The Rods Are Fine, Skirts And Everything Else We Did Check All That
I Will Have To Start By Buying Those Sensors Because I Believe Everything Else Is Fine...We Try To Start It And He Cranks Good And Fast...No Extra Sounds Or Anything...When It Seems That He Turns On I Release The Ignition Switch And It Goes Off Again

Re: I Need Help Engine Is Complete But Doesn't Start
Hm, must take a lot of time to capitalize every work you type :D
If the engine only doesn't start when there is coolant present, that sounds like a more serious issue to me.
Typically throwing sensors at an engine does nothing, most of your local auto stores have scanners and are willing to scan your car for the mere price of nothing, so I would start there.
You need your MAF unless you have tuned the ECM to run on a MAP senor, otherwise it has no idea how much air is entering the engine.
Keep us posted as to the results.

Re: I Need Help Engine Is Complete But Doesn't Start
Yeah, But No It's Very Easy!!!
No No No The Engine It's Fine...But It Doesn't Start... I Didn't Say Something About Coolant Being Present.
My Car Doesn't Run It Hasn't Had A Iddle Like A Month Now...I Can't Take It To A Local Auto Store.
So What Now ???
I'm Gonna Try Doing The Following, We Have 2 Luminas Here And 1 Corolla So I'm Gonna Remove The Following From The Other Lumina And Put It In Mine...See What That Does...I'm Going To Change The Following:
TPS
MAF Sensor
MAP Sensor
Idle Air Control
Intake Temp. Sensor
***MAYBE***
Cam Position Sensor
Crank Position Sensor
See What That Does...

Re: I Need Help Engine Is Complete But Doesn't Start
***UPDATE***
We Swapped Some Sensors And We Now Believe It's Air...
We Tried To Start The Engine With Those 4 Sensor Which Are
MAF
IAT
IAC
TPS
Ok Now Here's The Deal...
1-As It Tries To Start We Noticed White Smoke Out Back.
2-Then Black Smoke.
3-Now We Got It To Start To Like 700 / 800 RPM
But Here's The Catch...
It Doesn't Start But It Does To The 700 / 800 RPM Mark
If We Put Our Complete Hand On The MAF Sensor...Aparently
There's A Leak on The Intake...
Any Help Besides This Is Greatly Appreciated

Re: I Need Help Engine Is Complete But Doesn't Start
Spray some ether in the suspected areas (starting fluid, WD40 also works). When the idle changes, there's your culprit. Usually is a gasket.

Re: I Need Help Engine Is Complete But Doesn't Start
***UPDATE***
Aparently The Timming Chaing Is Loose...:s
I'm Getting Confused As He Did Check First
Aparently There Are Too Many Dead Valves
Which Is Why We Have To Put Our Hands In
The MAF Sensor...I Believe This Is All I Have
To Do Since There's Nothing Else...We Believe
It's That Now It's All Open Again All We Need
It's The Puler For The Crankshaft Puley...
I Suspected That Since Backfiring Has Ocurred
Any Ideas Now???

Re: I Need Help Engine Is Complete But Doesn't Start
***UPDATE***
Hello Again!!!
The Lumi Still Slumbers...We Have Tried Almost Everything In The Book...And Nothing...
We Replaced The Timming Chaing...Was Showing Some Wear But Besides That It Was In Time...
So What Now??? I've Tried Almost Everything...
New Spark Plugs & Wires, All 3 Ignition Coils Have Been Replaced
I Haven't Checked The PCM But I Believe It's In Working Order
The Fuel Inyectors Are Fine Pushing The Correct PSI
It Has 150 To 160PSI In Cylinder Compression
The Ignition Module It's Working
I Have Replaced The Following Sensors:
-MAF Sensor
-IAT Sensor
-IAC Sensor
-TPS
I'm In Need Of A Scanner To See What Else I Can Do Because I'm Dying To Get My Car Out And Race Again With It...Any More Ideas Besides What I Have Done???

Re: I Need Help Engine Is Complete But Doesn't Start
It cannot hurt to do the PCM now. I believe it is probably situated in your air box??? I'm sure it must have taken a bath.
Other than that...collapsed lifters? Bent valves? Not sure what to say...

The Lifters Are Brand New...The Heads Were Done By A Machine Shop So I Don't Know Much About That Work
