2000 and up heads and intake manifolds would be a good start.

Whats you horsepower goal, skills/tools and budget?

i dont want too much right now maybe just like 250 hp not too big of a budget right now

so start with heads and intake manifolds from a 2000 would be good

Well, getting the big port top end will help, and not kill you if you do the work yourself. You will feel the gain.

I have tons of top ends in stock, some waiting for a re-build, some in progress, and some getting ported etc.


Here's a 3100 manifold I just finished porting to fit a 65mm TB and the rubber 3500 gaskets...

2000+ Ported 3x00 Manifold

and some lower intake porting, we smooth the entire runner...

250 hp is a bit of a stretch if you're on a budget. I'd look into MMS or 60*V6 (I think it's WOT-Tech now). I know milzy's stage 2 top end has been proven to make 200+ WHP reliably for some time, but it's definitely going to cost you.

Also, considering that the Malibu comes equipped with the 4t40-e transaxle (correct me if it's a 4t60), you're going to have to do some tranny fortification in order to handle that much power. They've been known to blow out with less put into them.
