pontiac grand am 3400 lower intake

I had a question on the lower intake manifold on the pontiac grand am 3400 series motor, the original gasket was leaking, not for sure if it was the gasket or the sealant crap they used between the heads, I bought the new gaskets for the lower intake,but what type of sealant or RTV or whatever it is in between the heads and the bottom of the lower intake? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Only need silicone in the valley (flat area on the block between the gaskets, at the ends of the manifold).

FelPro makes a rubber/metal gasket to replace the plastic/silicone ones, and are much better.
