Questions about 3.4 Trans...

It's been awhile since I've been on here. I used to own a 95 Grand Am that the transmission went out at 218k. Well, it wasn't worth it to swap a new one in so I bought a 94 Grand Prix GTP (3.4 V6) and low and behold, it happened again. The transmission place in town quoted me around $1900 with a rebuilt trans, warranty, and installation. Unfortunately, it's only worth between $2100-maybe $3k so I'm kind of torn between fixing it or not. They said if I found one for cheaper they would install it as long as I knew it was the right one so i guess my question is. What is the code for my transmission and how do I know I have everything I need? I'm seriously debating whether or not it's even worth it. The rest of the car is in great shape and I'd be more than willing to sell it but i figured I could at least try and find a cheaper one to see what I'm getting myself into. Thanks in advanced!!

Re: Questions about 3.4 Trans...

the 4t60 is an ill-matched trans for the 3.4 TDC anyway, it can barely take the hp output as it is. you will continue to blow transmissions.

do a little searching and swap in a manual. you will not be disappointed.
