Hi DFILED1,
Welcome to the board. Putting a 5.3L or 6.0L in your truck should be fairly strait forward because these where optional engines on that year Sierra/Silverado. Further more the 4.3L is a V6 version of a 5.7L V8, so it's basically the same shape (just shorter) than the rest of the Small block family. You might want to go down to a Local Chevy or GMC dealer and see if they can tell you what parts are different. (it might be short list). Motor mounts might be different, but might be the same. Transmission should hook right up. You will need the new ECU that matches the new engine. There will likely be some extra wiring involved. |

Actually the 4.3 motor is the same displacement as the older 262 small block V8 that came in the early 80's Oldsmobile Cutlass and Monte's, ahhh good ol G bodies. However I think the 4.3 is a much better as a V6. Anyhow the swap isn't to complicated and you can find some helpful parts for the swap at www.advanceadapters.com . As Jeremy stated though you'll definately want to aquire the ECM and wire harness for either the 5.3 or the 6.0. Good luck let us know how it goes.
