Grand Am 3400 have a 4T45.
Grand Prix GT 3800 have 4T65
Grand Prix GTP 3800 have 4T65-HD

The 3400 and 3800 transmissions are not interchangeable because the bell housing are a different shape.

Grand am GT's came equipped with the 4t45e and SE's and all Alero's came with the 4T40e. Also, the 4t65 bolts up the 3400 IIRC. There's a guy on the grand am boards that has done the swap

The 3800 trans has the same pattern as the 60 degree V6's (in fact the 4cyls are also the same). They all have what is called the "GM Small Corperate" pattern even though the 3800 is a 90 degree engine.

The earlier 3.8's have the small block pattern (ie 90 degree pattern).

thanx, I have the engine all but out but since i have NO CLUE how to pull the tranny, and it won't fit my GP. i think i'll just let it go. I bet they are everywhere in the boneyards anyway.

now someone is telling me the grand AM engine itself is a stand alone engine due to NOT having emission ports on the end of the heads. ??
thanx , again, crossy
