LS Base GM Motors

Alright guys newbie here. I'm pretty knowledgable when it comes to gm SBC and BBC, but these new LS base motors I'm lost. So here's what I need from you guys. I'd like to know casting numbers and how to tell what motor I'm looking at? There's to many hustlers out here in Miami, and I'm on the the hunt for a few motors. I'm thinking of a small 6.0 for my shortbed that'll be my daily, and I really want to run a LS2 or better in my 67 Velle. And it seems everyones starting to get into these swaps, so I guess it's time I step my game up.

Re: LS Base GM Motors

Are you implying people could sell you a GM V8 motor and lie that its a LS motor?

You should be able to tell them apart pretty easy based on the intake manifold alone...

Re: LS Base GM Motors

No I'm talking about telling all the LS base motors apart. I know the diffrence between SBCs, BBCs, and LS base motors. That's not a problem at all. Example: How can you tell the diffrence between 5.3-6.0?

Oh that's perfect thanks homie. Now I'm I correct all casting numbers are on the heads only? So the blocks can't tell you anything other than cast or alluminum.
