Wont HOOK !!
Maybe Roktman can answer my question. With only 320 on the ground, temp about 75 degrees,17 inch Falcons, with the revs at 2500, let her rip and the guy beside me bolts and I spin thru 1st and 2nd, lots of noise, smoke but no GO. H--- I got smoked by a brand new SS Cobalt by a second.
My question. Would a set of drag radials make the difference?? I race at our local "Street Legal", near every Friday night, and Grampas 4 door, loves to shut down Rustangs. With the lack of traction the only run that was successful, shot down the City Police's Tiberon on juice, best run of the night 15.14. Do I drop another $500 for a set of 17 inch drag radials or $400 for a set of 15 inch?????

i would roll into the throttle instead of brake torquing.
also what kind of prestage are you doing? are you rolling through the water box or around it? do you do a burnout to warm up yer tires? burnouts on radials are come and go... some radials don't mind some hate it.

I would get a set of Mickey Thompson DR`sin 17 or if you want to go 15 " with wheels. They are prolly only 150 each if you look around. My BFG`s are ok and they were 150 from The Tire Rack. The DR will make a world of difference.
You want traction problems try lighting off the Roktship..............

Thanks Guys, I looked at a set of 325-60 15 BFGs yesterday, just a bit chubby for the wheel wells, Hoozier has some well priced 15s that will go on a 9-10 inch aftermarket wheel that will work just fine, MT is a bit pricier here in Canada, I am probably going with the Hoozier DR, and see if a 315 will fit without having to notch my frame rail. With the BMR control arms in already, new Sensitracs, and springs, the only other thing is to stay off the throttle til she hooks and then wail on it. Will let you know.

Dark Fox, I tried it both ways, no burnout, spun like crazy. Warmed em up, spun like crazy again. The track was slick and traction impossible to get, the worst part was having that Cobalt actually "Hook and Go", caught up to his bumper at the trap, but was some embarrassssed. Well at least it wasnt a Rustang.

Re: Wont HOOK !!
well if you want another $.02, i know it's about two years late...
but i recently tried the BFG's myself, and they ROCK. this is on a GTO, which most know is pretty hard to get traction with. with a good, long burnout i can launch at 5000 and the tires do nothing but grip. it's hard on the clutch, but oh well...
