Re: 2.4L ld9 1996 Q's
Plenty of high power builds have been done on the LD9. Tuning isn't all that bad - go turbo rather than SC, get the SC kit reflash, and get HP Tuners to fine-tune from there. There are several streetable LD9's out there in the 350-450 whp range. If you're willing to keep it under 250 whp, you don't even need to get too involved in the motor as the stock internals are reasonably reliable at that power level and the stock head will flow enough to get you there.
As for "easy" mods - the secret cam swap is cake and adds a few ponies, there are bolt onheaders and exhausts out there, if you can't find a CAI you can mak one easily enough, and the aforementioned HP Tuners suite will allow you to advance the timing and tune the car to make the most of pump premium for a few more ponies. You can find a moddified Quad4 HO intake mani to fit or even do the hed swap to an 086 head (jumps your compression though) for real power. With tuning, secret cams, and bolt-ons combined with mild weght redux you can get her in the low 15 or even high 14 second range reliably.

Only person I know of to get a stock LD9 Grand Am into the 15's, and that was on crap tires at 2200 ft. :)
The GA is gone. The SCX is gone. The Redline project is about to start...
