What is this site about? GM? Or everything else!

This site looks more like a import report than a GM site.

Just look at the new post of the day.

Why????????

And you send me a e-mail asking why I have not been on line??

It's about GM's. However, we do have some feeds that pull into this section only that are general auto news.

Well maybe you need to separate them.
And your the number one person publishing all this stuff.
just look!
I come to the site and all I see is this stuff, come on.

It's clutter! It's not the subject for the site.
And is a turn off.
If the only new post are yours and 90% have nothing to do with GM.

Good luck with your site.
If I want to read Motor Trend I just go to their site.

I would like to come and read about GM stuff and not have to hunt threw all the needless stuff.

Re: What is this site about? GM? Or everything else!

So far I've watched 3 other sites go from a medium-low membership count to nearly no posts other than the RSS feeds. My understanding is that it is to draw internet search engine hits to bring people in. Sound theory. Reality- it drives off the existing membership base and leaves the sites dead in the water with no participating members, because the new members get here and find there's nothing but RSS feeds about stuff they don't like anyways.

This site was doing decently when I joined. Maybe it's coincidence, but ever since the RSS feeds started up, this place has one foot in the grave. Maybe a good idea would have been to offer the members a custom option to not display the RSS feeds? I know nearly every forum that I go to, I usually link to the "new posts" shortcut to keep up on the latest on the sites. The ones that I find with all RSS feeds as new posts, I delete from my cue. This site is dangling on that edge as it is.

Re: What is this site about? GM? Or everything else!

Look guys, I understand the concerns. These RSS feeds are here for a reason, SEO placement. I put $0 towards getting new members to the site. Existing members eventually stop posting, get new cars, etc. It's natural churn rate of a website. Our traffic numbers are low, yes, I don't deny it. However, without these feeds, 80% of the traffic we get would go away. They come based on keywords they search. The hope is to retain some as members.

Clearly I need to setup a rule to prohibit them from showing in search, which I'll investigate.

Re: What is this site about? GM? Or everything else!

This is the type of feedback I like .. I built a rule so when you click "New posts" it won't show feeds. Test it out.
