GM and Moore Cadillac
Well, it finally happened - my 1999 Cadi finally broke down for good. It was destroyed by Moore Cadillac and GM did nothing to help my situation. Basically what happened is I took my vehicle in to get a battery. Moore Cadillac tested the electrical system to verify that it was the battery and nothing else. Apparently to test the electrical system they put a 'tester' on the engine. When they were through with the testing the shut the hood, with the tester still on the engine. When they did this, they cracked my Mass Airflow Sensor (MAS). When I picked up the car, I started to drive home. The vehicle keep speeding up. Finally made it home and called the service people. left a message. I brought it to the local shop and had it repaired. As I brought it into the service station, it started to overflow. Now get this - the service people at Moore Cadillac stated that they knew it was there and let me drive home anyway!!! I am told that this part is critical and if damaged would do exactly what it did do. I was also told that anyone who would let me drive away with a vehicle in that situation knows nothing about cars. This was told to me by the GM certified mechanic who repaired the vehicle.
Well, it appears that when the vehicle overheated and overflowed, the head gaskets were blown. Moore Cadillac, after knowing what had happened, did not even suggest that I bring the vehicle in to have it checked out. They had to have know that the gaskets were likely to have been blown - which is why they probably did not suggest that. They also must have know that to bring it to court would cost many of thousands of dollars and that it would be cheaper for me just to pay for their mistake.
I spoke to GM and they paid for the complete repair - labor and parts. They stated that the person at Moore Cadillac stated that it probably did happen there at their shop.
As time went by the vehicle stated to run rough and I brought the car in to see what was the trouble, that is when I found out that the head gaskets were blown.
I wrote GM again and they basically stated that it was too bad and that there was no 'proof' that the gaskets were blown because of the broken MAS destroyed by Moore Cadillac. NO PROOF??? What more could they want? The only time it overheated was the time the MAS was broken. And that happened within 5 mins after leaving Moore Cadillac.
Bottom line is that GM did nothing to help me and then 'crapped' on me when I asked for help.
We both lose on this deal, for I like the look of GM cars. They lost a loyal customer - for over 30 years. I will not be buying a new vehicle or bringing my vehicle to a GM dealership ever again.
The vehicle that GM makes is not the reason that GM is and will continue to lose share in the auto world, but because of the lack of common sense and their complete disconcern of their loyal customers and apparently the general GM buying community.
Yes, I wrote to MR. Rick himself. Apparently he does not read his mail, some 'assistant' does.
Amazing what people will do to get short term money vs a long term success. We both lose here; however, as I tell more and more people of this, more and more people are deciding to look at different products.
