New video of 9 second Gran Prix

As most of you know, I track this car's progress almost to the point of stalking (only without the throat slashing).

Pleased to report that it is now flaunting a 9.01 and will soon be in the 8's.

For those of you who have not been tracking this with me, it is a 1997 Pontiac Gran Prix w/3800 twin turbo'd.

Builder is Stattama ( www.stattama.com ) and lots of help from ZZPerformance ( www.zzperformance.com )

The first victim I posted awhile back was a S/C intercooled Viper which got it's ass handed to it at a 9.73 run.

The lastest wasn't really any competition but happened to be at the staging line during test n tune, was a late model Gran Prix GTP (S/C 3800).

For those of you who were wondering why I track this car so hard, is that it's basically the motivator behind my own build, and am looking into a full TT build within the next coming year. I'll be about 400cc smaller engine than theirs, and a little heavier, so I'm planning on hitting 10's by then, until I figure out a way to get more traction.

that is definitely the absolute hottest Grand Prix I have ever watched on the interweeb. The engineering put into that thing is amazing.

oh, it wont be any problem getting that 3400 into the 10's. The problem is going to be getting the transmission into the 10's...hahahaha.

so far what's in the works:

Problem: Fuel starvation at 15psi/6,000RPM on 42.5# injectors, stock fuel pump and stock FPR.

Fix: Walbro 255 LPH pump, boost referenced AFPR, and 60# injectors.

Problem: Transmission not rated to handle the torque above 15psi.

Fix: 4T65e-HD swap.

Problem: CANNOT get traction on 1-2 upshift without letting off the gas.

Fix: Chunk the old Kumho Ecsta rice-tires and get some real street drag radials.


Should be shiney after that.

How far do you plan on pushing that boost? Any dyno numbers?

so far plans are in the works to get into the low 20's on PSI. Beyond that, I'll need to do a little more internal work.

Shooting for 600hp eventually.

SSounds like my problems with the SS @ 18psi...LOL.I was running out of gas and had to go to twin Bosch race pumps and 10AN fuel lines.My problem is my pig weighs 5000 pounds.

The car was awesome on the 9.01 second run.
