Lexmark/Dell Laser printers are good devices, but they, like all devices have there ups and downs. They're prints are good (but not theh best Samsung/Ricoh have that). They are easy to use, and the drivers are easy to find. The Pastics' used are cheap.
HP LaserJets are okay quality, and not as good as they use to be.
Lower end Samsung devices are not worth the plastic they are mass produced with. $500+ Highend Samsung/Ricoh kick butt.
For Inkjet printers I can say Canon is your best bet.
Epson has always been a pain, because the printer requires you change ink when it says you need too. I suggest aganced them.
HP Deskjet's have become Crap over the last two years.
Lexmark/Dell Inkjet's are okay (but stay away from the Inkjet Print/scaners).
I also have a Kyocera FS-1010 Laser Printer, it's very cost effective, fast, and prints black and white very well.
My next Inkjet will be Canon MP780 (print/scan/copy/fax).

The only time my printer needs attention is when it is out of paper or toner (or the occasional Network error, but that's not the printers fault).
I've printed more then 10,000 pages on this little guy, and I'm Very happy with it.
My Kyocera SOHO cell phone is okay by comparison.

I have a Dell printer, lots of luck with it. These went quick. It was just a promo for selling a lot of Dell hardware last year.
