Never, NEVER store backups at the same site!!!

I dunno how any system admin with more brains than a pack of gum could fail to realize this! It's pretty obvious they had no disaster recovery plan either.

If they kept a set of tapes elsewhere, there would be no need for an "engineer" to piece the server disks together... much less lost business due to downtime.

Back in the day (groan) when i was a storage administrator... we always took 2 backups.. one onsite and one offsite to a DR site.

Every year you do a DRP and test to ensure ops can continue...

you know with our *violently indecisive* Canadian government.. u never know when the highly-trained guerillas (i.e., men with pointy sticks) will drop in under our radar (i.e., man looking up into sky and pointing).
