Why do I make things so difficult!
I swear, I make my life so much harder than it has to be. I bought that new Sling Media device so I can power my directv and DVR over my wireless LAN and over the internet so I can have TV anywhere. It's awesome and pretty cool because I can log into the DVR from any PC with an inet connection and watch my DirecTV or set it to record something if I forget.
So, then I get the bright idea to have a computer mounted on the media stand, plugged into all the equipment, so I can do all kinds of crazy shit. Well, I spent about 3 hours yesterday and about 5 hours today just to have a kick ass setup that is cool. And to be honest, it's more shit than I will ever need .. Why do I have to be such a geek and make my life so hard when I really just wanna watch TV .. lol ..

i often wish I wasn't in IT for a living sometimes cause I do it all day at work and when I have these projects for my house it's like I'm at work all over.

Maybe this is a good place to announce a similar setup that I'm trying to get my parents to let me do for them.
I was going to pickup one of the big screen flat panel TV's and hang it on the wall, put a picture frame around it then hook up both the cable and a computer to it. Imagine big screen tv with internet and gaming capabilities. And when not in use you can put up a screen saver of an art image and it will look like a painting. Best part is that my parents can afford it, and I'll use it the most ;), hard part is talking them into it and convincing them that they need it, lmao.

That's the kind of stuff I used to do. Then I realized all I need is the laptop on the arm of the couch while sitting in front of the TV, and I'm set for any occasion.
