What car is this based on? wtf?
It's not like GM to make a car that only goes to Canada and does not share the paltform with something else.
I don't recongize this one at all (well besides the GXP rims)

just keep the Grand Am and give it aa bigger engine so that the inside maatches the outsdie. One manufacturor(sp?) finally made a old car that looks like its old style. If you can find it check out the dodge charger. But GM is slipping ever since the GTO came out looking like a grand prix/grand am cross and not a sports car, GM has been going further and further down with a few breaks (Cobalt, new vette)

i disagree. GM is doing a LOT to save itself, is its not slipping.

The charger looks very little like the original, save from the fender line and the shape of the back windows. Critics even admit this. Also, it was designed from scratch. You have to understand the GTO was intended as a stopgap until GM designs something to replace it. Even then, retro = overrated.

Its not fair to rag on the GTO simply because of its exterior appearance. Its basically a monero, which is already a very highly regarded sports car in many lands. GM basically slapped a pontiac badge and grill on it and said go. It IS a stopgap until the next generation of RWD performance platforms for GM. However, it is a hell of a stopgap. GTO has excellent handling and straight line performance, regardless of how it looks. 2005 version has 400 hp and 13 seconds flat with an automatic for a little over 30k. I'm sure with a manual you can hit high 12's, even tho GM claims a slower quarter mile with the manual version. This is crap. You just need to be a good driver.

frankly i like how it looks. Its not a god damned batmobile like the trans am and half the other pontiacs turned into. Pontiac is tossing its ribs and wings and plastic cladding for a cleaner style. This is a GOOD idea. not a bad one. Pontiac was derided for a long time because of its obtuse styling. Yes... people did like the obtuse styling... hard core pontiac fans... and are dissapointed at the new direction of styling, but frankly they're a minority. Most people thought the old pontiac was ugly and are pleased with the new look.

The current GA is the ugliest of them all. They need to dump in a 3800 supercharged and totally redo the body cladding for the last year of its production to make it go out with a bang. NO ribs on the sides. No batwing spoiler. No obnoxious bug-eye tailights. NONE of the pontiac athletic 90's plastic styling. Make it look like the american tuner grand am, just without the nasty wing and altezzas. Totally redo the taillights.

The grand am IS being replaced by the G6 (the current versions being just as fast stock), the new GTP coupe version havinga 240hp engine. Is that enough muscle for you?

The solstice will also be a nice addition to the pontiac line up, as is the Grand Prix/Bonniville GXP now.

GM is also making Caddilac on par with Mercedes and BMW in terms of performance. STS-V = 400+HP!

Lastly, they are using better components and chassis designs to boot, and they are finally implementing technologies they should have done a long time ago, such as VVT, and newer innovations like displacement on demand.

I don't think you're being very fair on GM.

anyone seen the new cts super v hehehehe gm isnt slipping its growing and ever once in a while it has growing pains, i agree the gto isnt hot looking but man its got performance.... wait isnt that like the orgional gto a small plain looking car with strong lines and a big ass motor in it. if you havent driven one go do it or wait for the 05 model with the 400hp 6.0L in it. its a growing time for gm. to try stuff and see what works and doenst. gm is quit a bit behind in the industry but hopefully lutz will pull them out. everyone esle in the car industry has past thier growing period. i just hope gm can catch up.
