Johawk's new ride

After more than a year of not driving (after the Grand Am was totaled last summer and not having a licence) I finally got a new ride.
2001 Ford Ranger Edge Supercab Off-road pkg. 4.0L SOHC V-6 5-speed auto.

Even though I am not a ford guy, those are nice looking trucks. A body lift and some bigger tires really look good on those trucks. My friend put a 3inch body on his and is rolling some pretty big swampers! Good choice.

I have no plans for a lift of any kind any time soon. Once the tires that are on it are junk I am going to be putting 265/70R16 on a set of black rims. Of course a brush guard will find its way to the front end and maybe a roll bar in the bed.

i have personally seen rangers with axles completely disconnected, front ends sitting on the ground, lots of hoods up and the rear wheel pop off the back. this is all on the highway, no offroad abuse shit. hand to God i swear. me and my wife play a game now. when we go out we guess at how many fords will be broke down beside the road( flats don't count) whoever is closest to the right number gets to pick where we eat or movie, etc. good luck with the ranger. really hope it treats you well.

We have a '96 Ranger as a shop truck at work and it is a huge piece of crap as well. There are probably only a handfull of parts that are shared between those and the '01. The engine was introduced in '01. The 5 speed auto came out in '98 (I think). The 4x4 system was redesigned in '98. I am not too concerned about the reliability aspect.
... At least the valve cover and intake manifold gaskets won't die around 50k :)
