How to convince GF on '04 GTP purchase?

Hey all! I'm new to this site but not to GM performance. I've owned two Trans Ams, and a '98 GTP. My GF's pos Chevy Prism is burning nearly as much oil as gas, and recently messed up our weekend plans when the check engine light came on 40 mi. into our 100 mi. trip. I swapped the plugs out yesterday and one of them was completely gunked over w/burnt oil. Long story short, the valve seals seem to be shot, and the car is long paid off and is not worth the cost of repair. Her mom already has another high-mileage, no-frills sh*t-box lined up for her. This time it's a base-model Honda Civic w/120k on it, and needs shocks and struts to boot. They want $3500 for it, and that's all well and good, but it's SOOOOO boring I can't stand the thought of it!!!!!
Oh, I guess that's it, the guy just called and said he just put $800 into it including water pump, idler arm, serpentine belt, etc. He said it will need an alternator soon, (not sure how he KNOWS that) and that he'll sell it to her (family friend) for $2000. Oh well, I was just excited that w/the current economy, that dealers were selling '04 GTP's w/under 50k on them for $9k. I just don't think she realizes how much car that is for the money. Her credit's perfect (mine's ruined over the last yr. w/divorce and a short-sale on my house, etc.) and as much as I want the car, I just know that if she actually drove a car as nice as these late-model GTP's, she would realize what she's been missing all of her life. She's driven one piece of crap after another, and has been screwed out of a few nice GM family hand-me-downs in the past. I'm just frustrated at the thought of another bare-bones import in our lives. Uggggggg!!
Any advice you think you could give me to at least help her consider a car loan for a really nice car w/some actual power?? Please help!!!

Re: How to convince GF on '04 GTP purchase?

Well she`s sure not a car girl.It might be hard to make here see that life is too short to drive crappy cars. She may be destined to drive a minivan in the future.

I would just try explaining it to her, take her to see and drive the GTP and go from there.

Good luck with it.You have a lot of work ahead of you.
