Re: Aftermaket stereo module?
That looks right, the only difference is, that the one you posted has the wiring harness and the antenna adapter. Instead of only one item. This one is probably a better buy. Wiring probably didn't really change between 92 and now. And if it did, you can always return it. But I doubt it did, since my 87 beretta, my 99 ga, and chris's ga all have the same wiring colours.

Re: Aftermaket stereo module?
I hope so. I'm clueless to these things. I'm going to go to CDN tire first as you guys said what items I need to get and where. Thanxs 4 that...much appreciated. But If i have no luck for some reason, may-b if you guys know exactly what I need ( aside from the dash kit), then may-b someone can pick it up for me and I will pay them back. i need to know for sure what wiring harness I need. I don't want to get one and hack it up and cut wires later finding out it is not the right one.
As for the install...one of my friends said that they could do it, but not sure when. He has a new baby and his girlfriend is always giving him shit for spending too much time hanging out with me. But I'll see first. In addition to the deck I need to install the front door Allpine speakers, Sub and Amp. - I have the RCA wires for this too. I'll stop by 4 sure this Sunday...if not raining Who cares Rain or shine...I'll b there. P.S. Corey if you are out there somewhere. I would like some info on painting the interior trim pieces. (Info on prep and wait times and how many cotes for primer and paint) |

Re: Aftermaket stereo module?
Do you have the amp wiring kit? cause you need more then just the rca's. you need power, ground, fuse, fuse holder, amp line (turns amp on when stereo turns on) and if you don't know anything about stereos, I'd suggest not touching anything cause it doesn't take much to fry your deck, amp, or dash.

Re: Aftermaket stereo module?
There is NO FREKIN' WAY I am touching this stuff. I am leaving it to someone who actually knows what they are doing. I'll check with my buddy first who originally said was going to do the install to see if he still can. ( he wired up his own deck and subs in his Trailblazer)
If all else fails, I'll inquire your services. I'll buy the pizza from across the street for your time too, I'll let you guys know. Thanks for the offer though. I'll be keeping you in mind. |

Re: Aftermaket stereo module?
Trust me from experience... When Greg and I installed my 4-Channel, we did something and litearlly FRIED my headunit. It was literally burning hot and I burned my hand when I went to get it.
If you're buddy falls through, I'll gladly help you install it when I have some time off. Actually, I have this coming Monday off and that's when I plan to start mine. It's really easy once you learn how to do it. |

Re: Aftermaket stereo module?
Okay, I'll see you on Sunday then. Here's is an approximate checklist for what you will need for the install:
1) Deck, Speakers, Amps ( mono & multi channel ), Subs 2) Speaker Wire ( 14 gauge ) 3) Amplifer Installation Kit ( 4 GA Wire is prefered ), which includes: Power Wire, Ground Wire, RCA Cables, Remote Wire 4) Subwoofer Cables / 10 - 12 GA Speaker Wire 5) GM Wiring Harness 6) GM / Universal Antenna Adapter 7) Some Distrobution Blocks Hmm.... I should make a Car Stereo Install Guide... Edit: I read some more of your posts, and it will be best for you to run two seperate amps. One multi-channel ( 4 ) for the speakers, and then a Mono ( single channel ) for the subs. Bring everything Sunday and Greg and I will help ya. If you do need some more stuff, I'm making a trip to Princess Auto on Monday, you're welcome to join me Last edited by Exist2Inspire; 04-26-2009 at 12:55 AM. |

Re: Aftermaket stereo module?
I replaced my front door speakers (one which I threw in the garbage with other stuff and got damaged - no going back) with NEW in the box Pioneer speakers. The problem I am having is that they are crackling even at any level after I hooked them up... and of course I re-installed the door panels.
I first installed the driver side w/ the panel off and it was fine. So I installed the passenger side, re-installed the door panels, and went for a drive and heard this. I 'm sure I installed them correctly wires + to+ and - to -...iI'm sure. Possibly the door panel rattling on top of it. I don't know what to do. I guess I'll switch the wires around to test. But I cannot return as I don't have the receipt and they came from Liquidation World which was surplus from visions when Regent location closed down. They were in the box with the plastic around...so I don't think they were damaged in any way. Also the wiring harness i got from CDN tire 92'-07' GM which was the only one there came with the antenna adapter that did not fit. Pic attached. |
