Re: Aftermaket stereo module?

crackling is usually due to wires being crossed ex: + to - instead of + to +.
First thing about stereo installs, you need to know what you're doing before doing it or you'll fry your system
Second thing always test your system before putting the car back together.

The crackling isn't caused by the door panel.

Re: Aftermaket stereo module?

Hey Tony, I added you to MSN. It will be easier to help you that way rather than doing it by the boards.

Re: Aftermaket stereo module?

Thank you for all your help guys.
The crackling sound was the middle part of the speaker (don't know exactly what this part is called and connected by two wires) coming loose and falling out of the center and banging/ rattling against the speaker itself. It was wired properly + and -. Nothing a little crazy glue couldn't fix.

I did get the proper wiring harness...I mean the cheap one from CDN tire, But my bud had to get a wiring diagram of the internet / GAGT.com and was pulling and re-arranging the pins for it to work. The last problem we are having is finding the wire for the power source to power the stereo on accessory mode. He said it was a yellow wire on the harness.

I am off ALL WEEK on holidayz so If my friend cannot figure it out can I call on someone to meet up with to figure this frickn' thing out....ARG #%$#.
I can b reached anytime at 510-3989 w/ voicemail or text or email: aliarakos@hotmail.com

Re: Aftermaket stereo module?

the auxillary in gm's is the red I believe. The Yellow is the constant from the battery.

And the center of your 2 way speakers is the tweeter.

Re: Aftermaket stereo module?

Mind if I take a look at it? Just sounds a bit odd that you decided to use the fuse box instead of an inline fuse. Just want to make sure it's not going to cause any issues for you! Bring all the documentation too!

Cant wait to see it!

Re: Aftermaket stereo module?

ever check the fuse for the cigarette lighter socket? they tend to blow easily. And did you tap into any of it's wires or did you run all new wires? Who helped with the instal?

Re: Aftermaket stereo module?

Q: #1 will the sub in the trunk withstand the winter or does it have to be removed.

#2 if the battery need to get boosted for some reason, will that affect the amp?

Re: Aftermaket stereo module?

Answer #1: Subs will work fine in the winter, just don't pound them until they heat up ( i.e. the trunk gets warm ). Just run them at a low power.

Answer #2: Your amps are running on a remote wire which is the Ignition Control wire. So when the car is off, the amp is off. The only time you have to be concerned about this is when you are running a capacitor

Re: Aftermaket stereo module?

Re: Cigeratte Lighter

This could also be a problem depending on where you decided to run the remote wire. If your running it off the 12V source, or even the cig. power line ( another 12V source ) it could have overloaded it.

Re: Aftermaket stereo module?

How about in the case of a 2006 avy with onstar. I'm not worried about having the chimes
or onstar working or the rap feature but I am concerned about my mirror still displaying the
temp and compass and as long as the truck still displays the warnings on the dash and will
scan clear of codes when the truck goes in for sevice.
