Cone Filter reccomendation

Hello MGAC'ers

I was wondering if anybody knows which K&N cone filter fits in our cars and into our airbox, while still allowing the airbox lid to remain shut. I currently have the drop in K&N filter, but noticed that the protective metal cage thing around it was getting destroyed. It wasn't until I wandered into the back of Jim Gauthier Pontiac during one of my oil changes that I noticed one of the grease monkeys taking the filter out and bashing it against a cement post in an attempt to do me a favor by cleaning it out.

IIRC the K&N website tells you what filter works for the drop in just by searching for your specific vehicle.

thanks for your reply.

I tried the search thingy on the K&N site, and it only tells me what 'drop in' filter fits on my car. They have a line-up of universal cone filters, and I wanted to try using that instead. I've heard of people putting the cone filter in their stock airbox and still being able to shut the lid, but I don't know what model number that could be

I tried finding something that would fit, but in the end I decided to redesign and build my own cover for the airbox. You've seen it jag. But bang for buck a CAI works just as well.

and if you're cheap and dont care about showmanship, building a cai out of 3" pvc piping works. :)

my lil bro finished modifying a pos cai with some pvc recently, works very well.
