Re: Flasher / signal problem - Help!
the exact same thing was happening in my car when it was -50 that one week! It stopped when it warmed up though. The blinking sound would come on randomly and be really really fast even though the lights themselves were not blinking.

Re: Flasher / signal problem - Help!
alright, now this problem is happening on a regular basis to my car. Anyone heard of it/ has a fix? I'm hesitant to take it somewhere to get it fixed because I have messed around with so much wiring up front over the years that I have a feeling this problem is my own fault.

Re: Flasher / signal problem - Help!
I would still recommend a deler like McNaught. I received a notice last year about this issue. Should it happen to me I am to take the car in and have it fixed no charge.
It doesn't hurt to ask.

Re: Flasher / signal problem - Help!
Unless your car falls into the bracket for the recall they will tell you no. I tryed and they told me that the EXACT same part with the EXACT same problem wasn't covered as it could be from a different supplier. To this day they still won't after me arguing for hours on end.

Re: Flasher / signal problem - Help!
Well as far as I know, my car is not covered under waranty b/c I bought my car second hand which was a rebuilt from a writeoff (no major dammage). My mech cleaned the posts in the multi function switch and said the contacts were completely melted together and has to be replaced. He said this is a very common problem with Grand Am's. It is going off all the time now. Just turn up the tunes louder!!!
Thanx to all who responded and gave me the info on what the fu#K was going on with my car and where to find it & how to fix it. |

Re: Flasher / signal problem - Help!
Mon April 21
Fact: I went to the Pontiac Dealership on regent and asked if there was a recall on my car. The "Jabroni" that worked there only looked up my VIN # for my 04 GA SE. He said there was nothing. I told him that I knew of a recall that was a common problem for grand Am's. I read in a recent post / link that the recalls were usually for the 2000 and 2002 models, that is covered under the recall. I assumed that the recall should have been for the 2000+ models, as this problem still persists. He said there is nothing they can do, that there is no recall for my car, and that I would have to buy the replacement part. I told him that was bullshit since this problem is still happening. My car is newer that a 2000 model and they can fix the older model and not mine. What is the difference? I even had the recall # 03V32700 and GM Recall # 03043, and he wouldn't even bother looking it up. He said that he already typed in my VIN# and nothing came up, and that if there was a recall on my car then the computer will cross-reference any recalls. This recall notice began Feb 16/04. I'm going to call Pontiac 1-800-620-7668 and CAN ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION’S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236). |

Re: Flasher / signal problem - Help!
Wow, that is BS. You definatly have something that should be pursued. If a dealer is going to be that customer neglective, then the matter should be taken a step up. Talk to GM and advise them that you have done your homework, and maybe there is a chance they will make it happen.
I know there is what I would call a advisory, on the part. I received a notice in the mail that if my car has problems with the multifuction switch(ticker) that it would be replaced at no charge. I would think that it should apply to other grand am's with the same model/type of switch. Hope it works out for yah. GL
