GAGT Stolen from Polo Park

In today's Winnipeg Sun, mentioned a vehicle theft in Polo Park last monday where the stolen car was shot at by police as the thief tried to run over the cop. The car stolen was a 2dr silver Grand Am GT. My question is are these cars easily stolen (as I have read other posts)? I am assuming that this GAGT was not Immobilizer equipped. But shouldn't all GA's have immobilizers by now? If so can a car thief still steal a GA even though it has an MPI Immobilizer?

From what I ready the car didn't have an immobilizer or a club.

Any security device can be beaten, they're all used as a deterant.

Car1
No club, no alarm, no immobilizer (aka easy prey)

Car2
All of the above, club,alarm,immobilizer

Which do you think will be stolen easiest?
BTW,tow trucks seem to be used more often now. So GPS tracking may soon come into play. That, or a good baseball bat.

I use a viper alarm, club, and immobilizer all together all the time and people have tried to steal my car 3 times already. They will always try, it doesn't matter what you have.

and this is why I don't live in the city. cars being stolen in the country are very very rarely heard of.

True, car theives obviously aren't the brightest. But having all the deterants made one diffrence, they didn't get your car. They are meant as a delay. to delay them enough to either give up or get spooked off, or maybe even caught. Personally I like it when they are beat senceless. But all that aside, if you value your car, do what you can to protect it.

If you really want to have fun...

Store an extra battery in the trunk and wire the sucker up to the door handles and such. Just make sure you have made a switch to turn it off so YOU can get in. My buddy did that with his car since it has been stolen and broken into numerious times. He's gone 1 month and nothing.
