Wow its sure raining hard!!! Looks like an extra carwash. I should just use the foam brush at the coin op then leave my car outside.

Re: Raining!!!

arg... Don't use those foam brushes, unless you love scratches on your car.

psstt... i heard that scratches increases horsepower ten-fold :P

Re: Raining!!!

Uhh wash it by hand? Don't need a high-pressure gun to clean the car (your seemed cleaned last night). Here is what I would suggest if you wash it by yourself.

1 bucket warm water
1 bucket warm water w/ liquid soap
1 micro-fibre wash mit or 1 sponge
A garden hose

use one bucket to clean the wash mit and then soap it up. Work at one section at a time and then dip the wash mit into the rinse bucket.

Here are the sections that I do when I wash my car at home:

Windshield, top of hood, bumper, top of driver door, bottom of driver door, top of rear door, bottom of rear door, rear window, trunk, rear bumper, top rear passenger door, bottom of rear door, top of passenger door, bottom of passenger door.

Then I tend to soak the car in water.

Dry the car with high-quality MICRO-FIBRE clothes. These won't damage the paint and won't leave as many swirl marks if done right. I bought a pack of 20 at Costco for $50 or something. They're really nice and soft. I personally would stay away from any chamois as they like to get dirty and scratch your paint.

Now you do your detailing.

More tips can be found at www.autopia.com

edit: I personally use Meg's stuff. NXT Generation for most of it except for the wax, as I like the Gold Coat.

Re: Raining!!!

Thaks man i used to just use the foam brush but I always cleaned it off first with the sprayer cause could be rocks in it.

Re: Raining!!!

never use brushes, brushes are meant for your hair, not your car. And a clay bar does wonders on a washed car. Don't be fooled by the liquid clay bar crap. Buy an actual clay bar.

Re: Raining!!!

Canadian Tire has two clay bars for you to choose from:

Mothers ($25.99) which includes the California Gold Clay Bar, bottle of Showtime Instant Detailer, and a very small bottle of Wax.

Meguir's ($26.99) which includes the clay bar and instant detailer. I think it comes with a small bottle of wax, but not sure.

Re: Raining!!!

I just got the Ming mirror finish which is some sort of teflon coating. Pressure wash it and drive it at 60 km/h for a few minutes to dry it off. Just as shiny as if you were to wipe with a chamois.

Re: Raining!!!

He's talking about the paint, not window tinting.

Ming doesn't only do Tint, but cleaning the car in general, interior and exterior.

Re: Raining!!!

According to my Yahoo Widgit (which is true maybe 25% of the time) it's calling for rain :(

I'm pretty sure Enviroment Canada just says rain everyday. That way, if it doesn't rain we'll be happy and if it does rain, EC was right!
