Re: slam it !

You "can" cut the springs, but believe me the ride is going to suck! You want it slammed, you better bag it so you adjust your height. Slammed is not good for every road you know. I just went with lowering springs on my 98 GrandAm.

So you want to do a swap. Which motor do you have? If I had to guess you got the 3100. If so, you could swap to a 3400 motor, or go crazy with a 3500 motor. You can swap a 3400 and upgrade to the 3500 later. Search the web for this info.

I see you would like a manual trans. Overall, your better off just buying a car that came with one. BUT, there are trannys you can use out there to bolt to the 3100. Heck, they can bolt to the 3400 as well. I recommened 00-02 Cavalier/Sunfire getrag trans. Only from the 2.2 engines. (2200)

My advice. Don't waste your $. As much as I loved my GA, I didn't get anywhere near what I put into it back. Your better off taking that cash and buying something faster.

But it's your car; do what makes you happy. Bag it, rims no bigger than 18" for clearance, and as for the engine.... just make sure you think it through first. I have heard of a 350 fitting in there in a RWD conversion... just throwing it out there.

Just be careful when you start doing lowering. My car is already lower due to the front lip, and I bottom out on a lot of things :S

Also, do you plan on driving the car in the winter? If so, don't even bother putting in Air Ride Suspension. The winter will cause the bags to freeze, and the cold is not good for the air compressor.
